Kailash and Mansarovar, are holy destinations for four major religions: Buddhist, Bon, Hindu, and Jain.

  • In Jainism: Mt. Kailash is where the first leader was enlightened, and the mountain next to it is the site where the first Jain Tirthankara, Rishabhadeva, attained liberation.

  • In Bon: They believe Mt. Kailash is the home of Shenrab Miwo, the founder of Bon.

  • In Buddhism: Buddhists believe that Mt. Kailash represents the father of the world, while Lake Mansarovar is considered the mother.

Once you step into Tibet, the entire journey is marked by prayer flags, mani walls, gompas, and monasteries.
